Named after the Coeur d’Alene Tribe who first settled along its shores, Lake Coeur d’Alene is 25 miles long and has over 109 miles of shoreline. It is fed by the St. Joe River at its southern end and the Coeur d’Alene River on its eastern shore, near the town of Harrison. The city of Coeur d’Alene sits on its northern shore, where the Spokane River flows out from the lake to the city of Post Falls, and eventually to the Columbia River.
